A Very Happy Birthday!

August 6th was my most recent birthday! Woo hoo I made it!

I have been following Caitlin Lucia on Instagram and Facebook since she posted about my holiday Harry Potter Pop Up at Union Station Hotel a 3 years ago. This summer she chose 12 things to do in and around Nashville and the top one was Fisher’s Off-Road Tours, 1 hour south of Nashville in Williamsport TN.

I have always been interested in motorcycles but afraid to ride them on my own so, I thought this would be the next best option and what better time to try something new than now! They sat us in a side by side Can-Am vehicle with helmets and goggles! We took off on a 2 hour tour of the most scenic middle Tennessee back country dirt roads while listening our guide Kris (Kris with a K), sharing historic info about the trail being a stagecoach road and civil war soldiers walking this same path. Historic and new properties that I would have never seen went by with all sorts of animals wild and otherwise along the way.

The vehicles themselves were pretty amazing. I would have thought, like in a regular car, I would be sliding in gravel and bouncing to the ceiling on the rocky trails but this was a mostly smooth ride due to the huge suspension (if that’s what it is called). As I got used to it, we went up to 35 miles an hour around curves and over really deep ruts in the roads with my tires spanning either side. We went up a 1400 ft elevation mountainside without any trouble and back down again. I only screamed a couple of times. We easily crossed creeks and did donuts in a river that flooded my feet and seat with a welcome spray that cleared the dust off.

I have to say I really loved this adventure. I would totally do it again! Thank you Caitlin for the suggestion and thank you Rob for joining me, giving me confidence to race that vehicle!

See you all again soon!
