Finding The Right Art For Each Set Up

This is a perfect post for today!

Every commercial needs its own thing. Sometimes it’s a brand color, sometimes it’s a vibe the director or client is chasing. But the magic is in the nuance, a color woven in that actually makes you feel something. Not just filler. Never filler.

Michelle Reeves had the perfect piece for the Hasbro Jenga holiday spot and it set the tone for everything. We were shooting in a mid-century modern house in the middle of July… fireplace roaring… 95 degrees outside. Completely ridiculous, totally worth it.

Her painting had these vibrant oranges that instantly injected energy into the room, fun, warmth, a little bit of chaos. That color became the thread.

I layered in colorful mid-century furniture and decor to play off it, then staged the game table right by the fireplace. Milk and cookies for Santa perched on the edge, because why not lean all the way in. The cast sat low chairs and pillows so we could really feature the game, the fire, and that cozy-but-playful vibe all at once.

More about Michelle here.

For another Hasbro game called BEAT THE HEAT ,there was another piece of art that brought a completely different energy to the room It felt fast, exciting, and full of motion, perfectly complementing the red tones already happening in the space. The green graffiti piece sitting on the console beside the game table added that unexpected spark that made the room feel alive.

Audie Adams creates incredible murals and artwork that you’ll find in galleries around town, as well as bringing walls of restaurants and shops to life. His signature style uses stencils and spray paint to build these bold, layered images with so much personality.

I’m always calling Audie first to see what new pieces he’s created because you never know what kind of magic he’s made next.
